Bored to Death

Finding a new and amusing television show is quite uncommon, especially in today’s world of entertainment. After flipping through the channels of the same boring sitcoms, I happened to stumble across one that grabbed my immediate attention. I found Jason Schwartzman (lead singer of Coconut Records), starring in his own show, “Bored to Death”.

After watching only five minutes of awkward yet priceless hilarity, I could not help myself but to catch up on any episodes that I missed out on. Much to my surprise, only four episodes of “Bored to Death” have aired. Unfortunately, I am caught up with the show and now have to wait a week for a new episode to premiere.

The premise of this “noir-otic comedy” is about an uprising writer named Jonathan Ames, (Jason Schwartzman) who cannot manage to find any influence or creativity in writing his second novel. Jonathan’s writer’s block leads him to drinking an abundant amount of alcohol, smoking quite a bit of marijuana, and being just plain bored to death. After browsing some of his old books, Jonathan found a detective themed novel that inspired him to put an ad on “Craigslist” as a private detective. Surely enough, Jonathon received a reply for the ad, and has worked as an unlicensed detective as a hobby ever since that special day. “Bored to Death” airs Sundays, 9:30 p.m. only on HBO. If you are ever having a boring day, this show will definitely indulge your need for entertainment.
