So as all of you probably know, Apple is gearing up to stir up the tech world yet again this Wednesday with yet another amazing product. I just like any other tech nerd, am extremely giddy about whatever it’s going to be. I work at an Apple Retail store, so I’m fortunate enough to be surrounded by the entire line of amazing products they offer on a regular basis. I don’t however, know anything about what’s going to be released (I get asked like 47435908735938470 times a week).

What I do know is, is that whatever it’s going to be, it’s going to be amazing. I wouldn’t expect anything less. Keep your ears open this Wednesday 1/27 for the big announcement.

2010 is upon us friends. When I was a little kid, I thought we would all be wearing tinfoil pants, and have jet packs and stuff. None of these things have happened yet, except the tinfoil pants…but they weren’t very comfortable. What this new year does signify however, is quite a few ‘changes’ to just about everything here at SIMPLENVRMT. I’ve taken the liberty to number them for you below.

1) New name -OR- URL
– I’ve had almost every one of my friends tell me more than once how confusing the name is, and how they can never figure it out blah, blah, blah, so I’m going to change something. Any potential name ideas are welcome, email them to me. I’m out of ideas, ‘birdmaster.com’ was already taken.

2) Potential New Logo/ New Look
-I have quite a few friends in the design field (cough..cough..JUSTIN). None of them know it yet, but I’m going to ask them to help me with a redesign of the entire site and the sites logo.

3) New Contribuotrs
- We were doing this for awhile, but then summer came, and I went to Cancun. When I woke up a week later, all the contributors were gone. Well the good news is that I’m graduating college this spring, meaning I won’t have enough money to go anywhere. Yay!…….(note sarcasm)

4) MORE FREE MUSIC
- So my ‘Top 25 Tracks of 2009′ playlist was a pretty big success. This led me to believe that people enjoy free music, so I’ll deliver. I’ll just have to figure out a ‘legal’ way to do this. The RIAA is a tough cookie.

There it is, my New Year’s resolution for the site. New posts / content coming soon friends.

So beer is cool, but what do we really know about this mystical liquid? All I know is that makes me feel good, and makes me think I’m capable of dancing like Michael Jackson. To be honest though, there’s more to it than that. Beer has texture, aroma, flavor, and life…at least that’s what the good folks over at Beerknob have led me to believe. They have been investing a good amount of time to make sure that the 411 on what beer is socially acceptable to drink depending on the holiday, weather, and atmosphere is made known. You can really tell these dudes have a passion for beer. Aside from all that, their site is simple and satisfying to look at, which is always a plus. I hate ugly sites…but I guess after a couple of beers they all look the same if you get my drift….

So in case you didn’t know, I’m still in college. This is the time of year when my stress level hits ‘red alert level’ and sirens and red flashing lights start going off and there’s some guy in the distance yelling ‘you need to get out of here!’ in a Scottish accent. The point is, both Jared and I are swamped with a bunch of crap. So we’ll be taking a little ONE WEEK intermission starting Friday. At this point I’d imagine a tear is slowly streaming down your face, and lucky for you I planned ahead. FREE FRIUT SHAPED LIKE FLOWER BASKETS FOR EVERYONE…Not really.

If Vince tells you to change your eating habits, you sure as hell better change your eating habits.

To be honest, I kind of got over going to concerts. Maybe it’s the fact that the last five I’ve been to were either free or as a favor to someone. Or maybe it’s all the ‘winners’ that are always there that have too good of a time, and either spill some crap on me or grind the back half of my body to the point of violation. Either way, I was really starting to hate going to these things…that is, before this past Saturday.

I had the amazing pleasure of seeing ‘the future of music’ live. If you know me, or if you read any of the quality material I write on this thing, you are quite familiar with the fact that I am infatuated with The xx. Let me tell you, they didn’t disappoint. Even though they were a band member short, they still managed to kill it. I can honest say I have never seen anything like it. I could literally FEEL the emotion infused in every song. It was like reading ‘The Little Engine That Could’ for the first time, I just wanted to cry.

As if seeing them live wasn’t enough, I also had the pleasure of meeting them. Normally bands are asses, but this wasn’t the case. From being extremely soft spoken, to the fact that they were genuinely friendly, everything about them as band is perfect.

If you get the chance to see them live- go. If they are coming to any city within 80 miles of where you live- go. They will not disappoint, and you can say you saw them before they got big (because they will), and all your friends will think you’re really ‘indie’ or some crap.

Bijan: Hello everyone, I know we’ve been gone for a while but I’d like to announce that SIMPLENVRMT is officially back in business after a short hiatus… and may I say better than ever with some new and exciting changes to the website and to the mission of SE.

Matt: So this is an exciting time for all of here at SE, but more importantly, this is an exciting time for you, the reader. Music genres are diversifying, art is intensifying, and awareness of amazing things in general are peaking.

Bijan: Well said, so first off if you haven’t already noticed SE has gone through a complete makeover including a major redesign of the website, we hope that this layout is easier for you to pick and read articles. We’ve also taken our identity in a new direction. Our logo is more authentic, friendly and affectionate. We think it represents us better and we hope you feel the same.

Matt: I couldn’t have put it better myself. Overall, we want to center the essence of our little site around all of you. We want you to enjoy your time here, but more importantly, we want you to enjoy discovering some of the really exciting content and items we’re planning on posting about.

Bijan: Essentially we want SE to become a resource for you, we hope to discuss things that you already have a passion for and at the same time open you up to new things you may not have discovered yet. We want you to be a part of this little project because SE wouldn’t be anything without you, the reader and the viewer.

Matt: So to sum it up, we hope you enjoy our new look, and are hopefully excited for what the future of SE has to offer to all of you. Please feel free to explore the new site, click through the pages, and gear up for some new content in the next couple of days. Welcome back to SIMPLENVRMT.
