Hi.

So for 7 more weeks, I’m still a college student. In other words, I have a pretty full plate at the moment, hence the sporadic posts etc. So please just bare with me as I continue to work on my Capstone, midterms, and other extremely time consuming things.

After this week, I’ll be back in full force with a new FREE mix, more sweet videos, and other cool stuff that I have planned in the near future. I hope you’re all having a great begging to spring, and make the most of this beautiful weather (in Southern California).

Sorry, I’ve been busy with midterms and stuff. Now that I got that out of the way..let me say this. I CANNOT TELL YOU HOW HAPPY THIS MAKES ME. Foals are by far one of my favorite artist, probably even in the top 3 of all time. They finally released a track off their upcoming album ‘Total Life Forever’ which is scheduled to drop on May 10th. The video below is for the single..and it’s amazing.

Man, this music is pretty powerful. I can honestly say I’ve never enjoyed the banjo as much as I do right at this moment. We automatically associate the banjo with hillbillies, WWE, and liquor that has XXX as a label, but it works in this band…well. I stumbled upon this band by complete accident, and they’re great, take my word. Watch the video below for a taste.

Now that it’s March, that means spring is right around the corner. One of the things I love most about spring, is being able to listen to spring-esque music. Since I was about 16, I’ve been in love with Broken Social Scene. This band pretty much defines what spring is suppose to feel like to me, so I thought I get the month started off right by posting one of my favorite videos for by them ‘7/4 shoreline’. I know it’s pretty old, but so is Betty White, and everyone loves her.

I love driving. Just you, an inanimate object, and your thoughts. Secondly, I love things that make me feel like I’m a kid. Some people would call this being caught in state of arrested development, I call it nostalgia. This video illustrates both points. A car, and a child-like sense of imagination. Remember, the best thing in life are simple.

Side Note: This girl is a BRAND NEW artist, and she’s pretty awesome if you ask me. If you still have myspace (not that many of us do), you should add her or become her fan, or whatever it is they do on myspace. You can find her here.

Everyone in this video scares me, and this is the epitome of everything that is wrong with modern music videos. From the 3D Pink Floyd boxers thing, to the chick with the bowl cut; I’m 98.434434% sure I’m going to have nightmares after watching this video. I can only hope this is a trend of weirdos and not the next big thing.

I guess I’m a little late on this one, but I just saw this the other day and it blew me away. Aside from the fact that this is one of the most beautiful videos I’ve seen, it harbors a deep and resonating message. If you haven’t seen this yet, do yourself a favor and give it look.

Man, I have been all about this band for a few weeks now. No matter how many times I listen to this album all the way through, I just can’t get tired of it. The last time this happened with an album, it was The xx, and we all know how that prediction turned out…those guys are everywhere now. I’m not going to make a prediction, but I’ll say this, THIS ALBUM IS AMAZING. Seriously…go buy it…you won’t regret it.

The video below is their newest for the song ‘Elephants’ on there only release titled ‘Exquisite Corpse’. If the video doesn’t do it for you, find a way to listen to ‘Billie Holiday’ on the same album…tears will stream from your eyes.

I love photography. There’s something about a visually stimulating photo that has the ability to capture you and transport your imagination to a different time and place. Toby Burrows photos do just that, and in such a beautiful way. It’s photos like the ones that he creates that really demonstrate the full spectrum of human creativity while illustrating the ridiculous beauty of the world that we are blessed with living in.

So I’ve been following these guys for a while, and I have developed a true admiration for their music. These Silver Lake natives may have a somewhat redundant name, but there music is anything but. Seriously, I couldn’t be happier with where music is headed right now. If you haven’t realized yet, we are living in one of the greatest times for independent music, and bands like this do nothing but make that point. Their full length LP titled ‘Gorilla Manor’ was finally released a couple of days ago..or yesterday..whatever, it was just released, and I strongly recommend you give them a shot…did someone say Grizzly Bear…just saying.
